about

The godfathers of heavy metal, Black Sabbath, started out as a blues band called Earth. In those days, hard rock in England always started as electric blues: Cream, Jethro Tull, and Led Zeppelin all played classic blues tunes on their debut albums; even Pink Floyd was named after old bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Jackson. On their 3rd release, the1971 album Master of Reality, Sabbath planted the seeds for grunge, speed metal, heavy metal, and neo-classical rock. “Into the Void” is the final track; initially, the slower intro was a separate track called “Death Mask”.

The lyrics describe an Earth that is being destroyed by pollution, war and hate. A group of galactic voyagers are sent to find a planet that can be inhabited and seeded with love, peace and happiness, leaving the earth “to all its sin and hate…to Satan and his slaves… to their future and their graves.”
